Feedback on Kegels for MenIf you do Kegel exercises, please help others by sharing your feedback. What would you tell someone who was considering this exercise? Subj: Posture Date: 2/2/2006 Thank you for the information on this website. While I'm not a certified physician, I've noticed that good posture increases the effectiveness of Kegel Exercises. Dose maintaining an upright seated or standing position allow for better control of PC muscles? If so, then perhaps this tip will help others who are having difficulty with their routines. Matt AskDocWeb: While I'm not sure how much posture affects the effectiveness of the Kegel Exercises, it has an amazing affect on your attitude. And your attitude controls your latitude, your range of possible choices and actions. You can prove this to yourself by assuming the posture of a negative, weak individual. Adjust your posture to what it would be if you were such a person. How would you hold your head, your shoulders, etc. and get a feel for what that is like. Now adjust your posture to that of a powerfully positive individual. Notice the changes in how you hold your head, shoulders, even your breathing changes. A powerfully positive individual gets what they want. Maybe you can too with just a change in your posture. At the very least you have a lot more choices available to you. Subj: Testes pain Date: 2/8/2005 sir I'm doing kegels exercise, but I have little pain in right side testes. Can this exercise be harmful? That pain is not caused by Kegel exercises but could be something serious. I have been trying to start and stop during urination but it doesn't seem like its helping me hold my muscles tight. Keep at it and you will build up an ability to hold it for much more than a second. Subj: Jelqing Date: 2/10/2005 Jelqing is dangerous to the tissue corpus canvernousus, corpus spongiosus and micro vessels in the penis. MC AskDocWeb: Any exercise can be dangerous if you overdo it. Warming up before strenuous exercise is required to prevent damage. For your penis, warm up can be as simple as applying a warm wash cloth before jelqing. Kegel exercises are part of a whole set of exercises for your penis. Subj: I have question please Date: 1/7/2006 If I make this exercises hardly and too much is there any side effects? Now about the muscle relaxing by itself, that is what happens naturally. Anytime you contract a muscle it will only stay tight as long as you clench it. Make a fist and it will relax by itself over time. That is normal and there is no problem. Just keep exercising and you will learn to make a better distinction between what it feels like when it is squeezed and what it feels like when it is relaxed. Subj: Serious problem Date: 2/16/2006 Hi, thanks for the exercise advice. For about a week I've been trying these exercises like you explained but something bizarre happened: I waited several days to try out stop-and-go masturbation to work on my "control" and I set my mind on doing it for 15 minutes then coming. Well, after 15 minutes I "let myself go" and... no orgasm. A tiny bit of semen came out but it didn't even feel like an orgasm (and I am used to having normal, very pleasurable orgasms); I asked myself "Did I come at all?". That's kind of like saying that you practiced for a marathon race for a whole week and then expected that to have some affect. It is more likely that you took the fun out of masturbation by taking this far too serious. Lighten up and learn to play with it. That sounds like someone just starting to learn Kegel exercises. Some people never seem to make a distinction between those muscles. It is possible that your premature ejaculation is not really a problem but instead may be a sign that you are multi-orgasmic. Many men are multi-orgasmic and don't know that they are because they stop stimulation. If you continue stimulation after ejaculation, you may find that you are capable of many orgasms. Take some time to consider if this may be true for you. Subj: Squeezing during urination Date: 2/24/2006 I have heard someone suggest that squeezing the tip of the penis during urination for 2 second at a time can also help. Is this true? Douglas AskDocWeb: Doing that will pressurize and expand the urethra, the tube that drains urine from the bladder. That's a bad idea. It will not help and it is dangerous. Two seconds is long enough to cause this tube to rupture and that will require surgery. Subj: Kegel muscles Date: 2/28/2006 I've been doing the kegels for a few weeks, I tighten my anus and then release after a few secs and repeat. Is that the correct technique? Steven AskDocWeb: That is not correct. You need to go back to the beginning and start over by reading the directions. The muscles used for Kegels are not the ones used for tightening you anus. Subj: Learning to isolate the different PC muscles Date: 3/31/2006 I can't seem to do these Kegels without contracting my anus also. Flexing this muscle during sex increase the size of your penis as well as making it firmer (harder). We encourage you experiment with this in a playful way to find out what happens.
